First UMD Global Conference a Major Success!

The United Macedonian Diaspora (UMD) successfully organized its first Global Conference June 11th -13th in Washington, D.C.  The conference attracted Macedonians from the U.S., Canada, Australia, Austria, Romania, Russia, Croatia, Bulgaria, and Greece. UMD acclaimed several individuals and organizations for their extraordinary courage and merit in the support of Macedonia. In addition to policy discussions and congressional advocacy, the conference attendees enjoyed a rich cultural and entertainment program. Read more and see pictures from the event!

UMD Global Conference Resolution: Macedonia's Constitutional Name

15 Members of Congress Urge Support for Macedonia
Monday, 04 May 2009
15 Members of Congress sent a letter to U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton recognizing Macedonia as a staunch ally and trusted partner.  Led by Congressman Bill Pascrell of New Jersey and Congressman Mark Souder of Indiana, the letter urged the "new administration to review Macedonia's contribution to stability in the southern Balkans and its contribution to America's foreign policy objectives there and in Afghanistan, Kosovo, and the Middle East."
